20 countries, including Pakistan, Egypt, USA, Saudi Arabia, UK, Italy and France, participated in the exercise held at Muhammad Najib Military Base in Egypt.
The two-week multinational exercise was attended by 20 countries, including Egypt, the United States, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Iraq, France, Bahrain, Kenya, Kuwait and Greece.
The Pakistani contingent consisted of the Army, Navy and Air Force personnel and assets. The three Armed Forces contingents have participated in the exercise for the first time since 2009. The closing ceremony was attended by Engineer-in-Chief Ltb Gen Moazzam Ijaz.
The event included regional risk management exercises. Apart from this, the exercises were also conducted for enhancing regional cooperation during which maritime security operations, joint force and combined force operations were conducted.
Egyptian Defense Minister and Commander-in-Chief General Mohamed Zaki and officials from 20 countries, including the US Senate, were also present.
In the final phase, warplanes, helicopters, tanks and various weapons were used. The Bright Star Exercise has been held continuously since 1980. Lt Gen Moazzam Ijaz also met with the Egyptian Chief of Staff and Air Commander.
